Doubting Thomas Research Foundation claim the peak on which Moses convened with God in the Exodus story – Mount Sinai – is in Saudi Arabia.

The scholars allege the mountain of Jabal al-Lawz in the north west of the Kingdom near the border with Jordan is actually the fire spitting summit mentioned in the Bible.

It was where in the Biblical story Moses carves the 10 Commandments on to stone tablets after the Israelites fled across the Red Sea from Pharoah.

Researchers – fronted by security analyst Ryan Mauro – have claimed the Saudi regime actually knows the peak is original Mount Sinai.

And they allege in bid to stop the mountain becoming a site for idolatry by either keeping it hidden or destroying any evidence.

Doubting Thomas Research Foundation – who have set the the Sinai In Arabia project campaigning for the site to preserved – allege the Saudi authorities are actively blocking access to Sinai.

They lay out their claims in the documentary Finding the Mountain of Moses: The Real Mount Sinai in Saudi Arabia.

Claiming they had to visit the site in secret, the team alleged the site is being hidden from the world using “fences and police and the threat of force”.

And it is claimed if the it becomes widely known the Sinai is in Saudi Arabia, they regime may take steps to destroy the site.

The proposed Mount Sinai site is already known to be included in the footprint of the Saudi megacity Neom – which is planned to be 33 time bigger than New York.

Doubting Thomas Research Foundation also claim to interviewed senior sources in the “jihad world” who attest the belief that Jabal al-Lawz is Mount Sinai.

It is suggested the site includes evidence of the Biblical great fire atop the summit, of the Israelite encampment, and cave paintings of cows which line with the Bible tale of the golden calf idol.

Mainstream historians and scholars remain unconvinced of the claims, and there are many challenges suggesting the story of the Exodus ever happened as explained in the Bible.

Mauro interviews the jihadi source in the film, who claims to been a senior member of unnamed terrorist group who had meetings with close associates with Osama bin Laden.

Speaking through a voice changer, he said: “When I was in the jihad world we all knew that the Mount Sinai was in Saudi Arabia.

“The people on the outside had no idea that it was there.

“We fighters didn’t want anyone to know about it, and we knew the Saudi government hid it and protected it with security and we all agreed with it.”

Mauro claims that when the researchers visited the site they were chased away by locals, and even heard gunfire as they fled the area.

Saudi authorities have carried out their own archaeological surveys of the area, and dismissed claims it is Mount Sinai.

The study was carried out in the early noughties, and findings were linked to other early civilisations – not Moses and the Israelites.

Jabal al Lawz has previously been suggested as a candidate for the original Mount Sinai, and this claim been criticised by other historians and Christians.

Professor James Karl Hoffmeier described “monumental blunders” as leading to the conclusion of the mountain being the one mentioned in the Bible.

Creationist researcher Gordon Franz also dismissed the claim that Mount Sinai is in Saudi Arabia.

He said: ”There is no credible historical, geographical, archaeological or Biblical evidence for the thesis that Mt. Sinai is at Jebel al-Lawz in Saudi Arabia.”

Doubting Thomas Research Foundations also claim to have found the Red Sea Crossing site leading into Saudi Arabia not far from their proposed candidate for Mount Sinai.
